There are a few ways that screen resolution, or the zoom factor, can be changed. Please try these solutions. If none of them work or instructions say "contact the Helpdesk" please click the following link Contact Technology Department's Helpdesk.

Your screen display may be set incorrectly. In these directions think of your screen like a map.

  1. If your screen is zoomed in too small where you can't read the detail, you need to make everything bigger. This is actually decreasing the resolution of your screen. Map analog: a globe of the world. Can only find countries.
    1. Press these keys at the same time: < Ctrl Shift + (plus) >
    2. Press the Ctrl and Shift keys at the same time, then press the plus key.
  2. If your screen is zoomed out too large where you can't see enough detail, you need to make everything smaller. The resolution of your screen is increased. Map analog: map of a particular city.
    1. Press these keys at the same time: < Ctrl Shift - (minus) >
  3. If neither of these work, reset the resolution to normal:
    1. Press these keys at the same time: < Ctrl Shift 0 (zero) >
    2. If you do not see an immediate change, sign off and shut down, then log back in.

If these do not help, click where the time is displayed on the task bar (also called the shelf) and see if the Accessibility menu is present. The icon for this is a person standing and holding their arms out.

  1. Click on the icon then Accessibility to get into the menu options. Selected items have a checkmark.
  2. If Screen magnifier has been selected, click to remove that option.
  3. The screen will immediately go back to a normal resolution.

If none of these help, your device's settings need to be examined.

At the top right next to your profile picture click the Moresymbol, then Settings. There are two possible areas to examine.

  1. Type accessibility in the search bar at the top.
    1. Click where it says Manage accessibility features.
    2. Scroll down to where it says Display.
    3. Enable screen magnifier should be off or disabled.
  2. Type appearance in the search bar at the top.
    1. Next to Page zoom click the percentage and change to the desired amount. 100% is recommended.
    2. CAUTION: If set too large it will be difficult to navigate the screen. If you need to make the screen larger do it in small increments.
    3. It may also be necessary to change the Font size. The normal setting will say Recommended or Best.
