Users can add extensions and Chrome applications. To find what is permissible to add to a P-CCS district Chromebook, please click the following: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/for_your_domain
Some extensions and apps have been identified as "bad" because they interfere with Google applications or the performance of Chromebooks. Here is a list of some:
- Geometry Dash
- Calendar Countdown
- AdBlock/Adblock Plus
- Funky Carts
- Flappy Bird
- The following may cause problems when a new page is opened:
- Extensions that show a celebrity's picture all the time
- Wallpaper applications
To access extensions and apps:
- At the top right next to your profile picture click the symbol.
- Click More tools, then Extensions. Extensions are listed first, then Chrome apps.
- Find what is questionable, and either delete or disable it.
- If deleting, make sure to also delete any bookmarks created to use it.
- The extension/app may have also been pinned to the task bar, also called the shelf. Delete it.
- Restart the Chromebook.
A good rule of thumb to follow: If you don't see this grid-like symbol next to an extension (which appears in red), you should probably delete it by clicking Remove. Or if there is a trash can symbol, click that.
Another option would be to disable all user-added extensions and Chrome apps, then re-enable them one at a time to see if your problem occurs. If it does you should delete it. If you see a message that a product has become unstable or corrupt, delete it.
